On Friday, June 15, 2007, the Putnam Manor Civic Association honored longtime residents, Anna Driscoll Wade and Richard H. Higgins, by presenting them with specially engraved plaques. The presentation took place in Anna Wade's home on Fairfield Way. Anna's daughter, Maryanne Menk, and Richard's wife, Eileen, were in attendance, as well as Anna's caretaker and family friend, Marina Khutsishvili. Civic Association President, Kenneth Schuster, presented the plaques. Also in attendance was Treasurer, Ellen Entriken. Union Leader Staff Writer, Jackeline Leon, as well as a photographer for the newspaper, were on hand to document the celebration.
Anna Wade is the longest living, continuous resident of Putnam Manor (June 15, 1939 to present), having spent all of those years in the same house! On her birthday this summer, she will turn 102!
Richard Higgins predated Anna Wade as a Putnam Manor resident by a little over a year, having first moved to Putnam Manor on February 5, 1938. He is the earliest resident still residing here, though not continuous, having lived for some years elsewhere in Union, before moving back to Putnam Manor, where he currently resides.
The Union Leader ran a lovely article and photograph of the celebration, entitled, "A 'milestone' in Putnam Manor's long history" on the front page of the June 21st issue.
Warmest congratulations to Anna and Dick!
